9/11 Anniversary - We still remember

On the morning of 9/11/2001, SPEC.-OPS. Brand was just a little over one year old, having been founded in August of 2000.  Company co-founder Jeff Wemmer was on the road meeting with military customers and working on new product designs.  His partner and co-founder, Bryan Heflin, was back at SPEC.-OPS. Brand HQ trying to get TV reception to watch the news broadcasts as events unfolded.  It is easy to lose sight of the fact that the internet wasn’t quite mobile yet and social media was still in its infancy.  We didn’t have information at our fingertips the way we do today. This was a time of great uncertainty across the world.  Nobody really knew what was going to happen next, but everybody knew it was going to change the world. 

For the next twenty years, the Global War on Terror was waged across multiple theaters.  All that time, America’s volunteer military served overseas alongside law enforcement here at home to protect the American people from terror and keep the Homeland safe.  During that time, the owners and employees that make up SPEC.-OPS. Brand have been proud to build gear right here in the USA that supports our military, law enforcement, and security personnel. 

As I write this, I can't help but think of where I was 25 years ago.  I was a young U.S. Army Specialist stationed at Ft. Benning, GA.  It gives me great pride that I was able to serve my country during a pivotal time in our history.  I found SPEC.-OPS. Brand the way many people do, at the AAFES Military Clothing Sales Store.  I bought a pouch that solved a problem that I had with my gear, and it made my job just a little easier.  I noticed the pouch was made in Monahans, TX which is about 50 miles from my hometown.  I reached out to the company and long story made short, got hired in April of 2004 as I was ending my enlistment in the U.S. Army. 

All these years later, I am proud to help lead this company.  Everyone that works here still takes great pride in producing the best gear we can make for all the people that protect our way of life.  We understand why those people are so important.  We still remember 9/11/2001.
